Swine Flu

Argentina just revived after being paralized for a few months about the Gripe A or Swine Flu.

I have serious doubts about this whole craze and will try to explain why:

The UK NHS is not very alarmed and the CDC says: 'At this time, most people who have become ill with novel H1N1 in the United States have recovered without requiring medical treatment and have experienced typical flu symptoms.'

And then there is Tom Jefferson who worked for the Cochrane Collaboration. He claims that the WHO has changed its definition of pandemic to make this flu to be classified differently (Read all of it!).

So why exactly does the WHO put the whole world in a level 5 alert (some say we should be in 6)?

CNN money gives us a nice intro of the subject.

Wikipedia states that yearly some 500'000 people die from flu. So while only 255 people died from birds flu (in 9 years) this was reason enough for mass murder of livestock, and mass stocking of medicine. This is at least suspicious. Although I think this story is a bit overdone on the conspiracy end, it does point out the usefulness to the media manipulators of another subject at this post-Bush era.

It can go wrong as well.

By the way the name is stupid. Flu is always coming from birds and pigs.

Not that it's bad that people think about those around them en cover their mouth when coughing....

Hello Bas,

It seems your on the right site. One remark: The name is not stupid because Flu isn't always comming from birds and pigs althoug birds are the largest animal reservoir of influenza viruses

He he, Dag van de Lente is grappig.

Swine Flu: Very, very interesting. Sounds highly criminal and should be investigated.

On the other hand, I also hear that there is the concern that this harmless, but highly contagious virus could mutate (what the flue does more often) and somewhat merge with a deadly one within someones body. It seems that this is not too unlikly, given the enourmous number of people who catch it. This could be indeed a nightmare...

Update: Jan. 26, 2010: Wolfgang Wodarg, a member of the German parliament, tells the European Council in Strasbourg that "millions of people worldwide were vaccinated for no good reason." According to Wodarg, the WHO's classification of the swine flu as a pandemic have earned the pharmaceutical companies $18 billion in additional revenues. source: http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,682613,00.html
